Our Chestnut Ridge dentist, Baruch B. Lifshitz, DDS, and our certified staff, will help you understand the process of using Invisalign, helping you to decide if it’s the right treatment for you. With Invisalign your teeth can be straightened without traditional wires and brackets. Using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances, hardly anyone will know you are straightening your teeth because Invisalign is practically undetectable. Our
Chestnut Ridge dentist will use the Invisalign treatment plan, along with 3-D computer software, to help make custom sets of plastic aligners that move teeth in little increments. Each aligner, as few as 12 or as many as 48, is carefully calibrated and made to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss.

Our
Chestnut Ridge dentist will start by taking dental impressions, x-rays and photographs of your teeth that get sent to Align Technology. The impressions are put through a CT scan from which a computer creates a three-dimensional model. The Invisalign custom software then simulates the movement of the teeth in various stages. The simulation is reviewed online and once approved a plastic resin aligner is made for each stage of treatment and shipped to Dr. Lifshitz. The normal treatment time is about one year, depending on how involved the treatment is and, once complete, retainers made of a similar plastic material are usually necessary and worn mostly at night. With our expert staff focused on your satisfaction and comfort, give Invisalign some serious consideration to help give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of.
The most obvious advantage of Invisalign is cosmetic, which makes the method especially popular with adults who want to straighten their teeth without the usual discomfort and look of traditional metal braces. With metal braces, 50% of patients develop tooth decay because, unlike Invisalign, they cannot be removed for eating and cleaning and they prevent accurate x-rays from being taken. Our
Chestnut Ridge dentist will use computerized treatment planning as a necessary part of the Invisalign procedure, allowing you to review the projected smile design, learn how long the treatment is likely to take, compare different plans, and make a more educated decision as to whether Invisalign is right for you or your child.
